Scene 1

Tammy: Mom, I'm going now,so I can pick up Merchell, Karen, and Cheryl. We are going to
              meet Matt at the store.

Mom: Ok, just don't stay out too late tonight.

Tammy: Ok, I'll be home by nine. I'll see you tonight. Bye, I love you.

Mom: All right, I might be asleep when you come in. I am tired.

Tammy: All right, bye.

Narrator: Tammy gets in her new red convertible, to go to Merchell's house. Merchell, Cheryl
and Karen should be ready to leave when she arrives, but Cheryl isn't ready yet. She
pulls up and honks the horn. Merchell comes out to greet her.

Merchell: Hi! Tammy, come in for a few minutes, while Karen finishes with Cheryl's hair.

Karen: Ok, I'm finished. She's all set now. Let me grab my purse and we can go.

Tammy: Are you sure you have everything you need?

Merchell: I am sure we have everything. If we don't, that's just tough. Let's get going.

Tammy: Ok, what ever you say. Everybody climb in and buckle up. I don't want a ticket.

Narrator: So now Tammy and her friends are on their way to the store. It takes them almost
an hour and a half to get there. When they arrive, the lot is empty. So they wait.

Merchell: Why isn't Matt here yet?

Tammy: I don't know. Maybe he got caught in traffic.

Karen: Well, I wish he would hurry up. I'm starving.

Tammy: Oh no! Look who's coming.

Merchell: Why it's, it's that ugly boy, Jimmy Clayton.

Jimmy: Why, hi everybody!

Tammy: Oh, Jimmy, why are you here?

Jimmy: Well, as I was walking by, I saw you four here and came to see if everything was all
             right.

Tammy: Why of course everything is all right. What could possibly be wrong, besides me
talking to you? You know I'm not supposed to talk to you.

Jimmy: I don't care. Another reason I came over was to try and get our friendship back. I
don't like it when someone is mad at me. I was kind of hoping we could work
             things out.

Tammy: Fat chance, you ugly cow. You don't deserve a second chance. Besides,I could care
less if you don't like me being mad at you. That is how I prefer it to be. Now, I
want you to leave before Matt gets here.

Karen: Well, speak of the devil!

Tammy: What now, Karen?

Karen: He's already here. Jimmy, you are in for it now.

Jimmy: In for what? By who?

Narrator: Now Matt arrives and gets out to talk to Jimmy. He pulls his rifle from the truck
after Jimmy pulls his knife and grabs Merchell and Tammy. Cheryl and Karen run
                for help.

Matthew: Jimmy, you are in for trouble by me if you don't leave right now.

Jimmy: Yeah, well, what are you going to do about it if I don't?

Tammy: Matthew put that gun away before someone gets hurt.

Matthew: Don't worry, Tammy, he won't hurt you or Merchell. Now Jimmy put the knife away
and let them go before I blow your head off.

Merchell: Jimmy, get your filthy hands off me, before you give me a disease of some kind.

Jimmy: Shut up, Merchell, before you get the knife first.

Tammy: Merchell, lean over here for a moment. When I count to three, kick him hard, until
              he falls.

Merchell: Ok, ready.

Tammy: 1, 2, 3, kick him as hard as you can.

Narrator: Jimmy doubles over and pushes the knife into Tammy's side while he pushes
Merchell towards the car. When she hits the car, her arm gets twisted around the
axle, when the car moves forward. Tammy is knocked out when her head hits the
pavement. Blood is pouring from her side. Matt runs over to Jimmy and hits him
with the rifle. Jimmy is knocked out. Matt shoots him twice in the leg.

Merchell: Matt, help Tammy and fast. Don't let her die.

Matthew: Ok, what do I do?

Merchell: First, see if she is alive.

Matthew: Tammy, are you ok? Speak to me. Speak to me, please! Merchell, she is
unconscious. What do I do now?

Merchell: Don't panic. Turn her over on her back gently supporting her head, while turning
her. Now, check to see if she has a pulse and is breathing. Pull the knife out and
cover the wound with your shirt, pressing down firmly. Keep it that way. Where are
                Cheryl and Karen?

Matthew: I don't know where they went, but here they come with three people and an
ambulance. Boy, are we glad to see you guys!

Karen: What happened here?

Matthew: It's a long story. Cheryl, go call the police.

Cheryl: No need to. They are already here.

Narrator: Now the three paramedics step in and take over. They are Billie, Barbara, and
                Angela.

Billie: Excuse me sir, but I need to get here to take a look at how bad the wound is.
Barbara, Angela, how about take care of the girl trapped under the car. Sir, what is
          your name?

Matthew: Matthew Carter.

Billie: What is her name?

Matthew: Tammy Lawson.

Billie: How old is she?

Matthew: She is 16.

Billie: Who are her parents?

Matthew: They are Mr. & Mrs. Richy Lawson. I'll ride over to her house and get her mom to
meet us at the hospital. Is she going to be all right?

Billie: Well, she has lost allot of blood. Whose idea was it to cover the wound with the
           shirt?

Merchell: It was my idea. Is something wrong with it?

Billie: No, no, nothing is wrong with it. Actually, it has helped stop most of the bleeding,
          and that is good.

Matthew: Well, she is my girlfriend and didn't want her to die. So I asked Merchell what to do
and she told me. By the way, just call me Matt, and that is Merchell.

Billie: Ok, nice to meet you, Matt.

Matthew: Same here.

Barbara: Merchell, can you feel anything?

Merchell: No, I can't feel a thing. I went numb an hour ago. I think my right arm is skinned
                pretty bad.

Barbara: Angela, come over here and help me put her on the stretcher now that I have her
arm loose. She can't feel a thing.

Angela: Barbara, I'm coming. If she can't feel anything, it will be harder to put her on the
             stretcher.

Barbara: No, it won't. Actually, it will be easier, because, she won't be screaming of pain.

Karen: Is Tammy going to be all right?

Billie: I think so. We got here just in time, thanks to you two. She is conscious now.

Cheryl: That's great! I hope Merchell will be ok too.

Merchell: I am sure, I will be out before Tammy will.

Billie: Don't be so sure about that. You two will probably be released at the same time.

Merchell: Will we be in the same room together?

Billie: Yes, since you are best friends.

Merchell: Best friends! What do you mean, best friends? We are practically sisters.

Billie: Ok, Merchell, just calm down.

Merchell: Ok, I'm calm. That will be great to be in the same room. It will also be great to
                have visitors.

Billie: You can't have visitors all day. You and Tammy will need your rest.

Merchell: Cheryl, will you drive Tammy's car out to my parents house and tell them to meet
                us at the hospital?

Cheryl: Ok, Karen, lets go.

Karen: We'll see you and Tammy at the hospital.

Angela: We're ready to put Merchell in the ambulance now.

Billie: Ok, Angela, bring her on. I'm ready.

Matthew: I'm back. Where is Tammy's car?

Merchell: I told Cheryl, to take it to my place and tell them to come to the hospital.

Matthew: Well, I brought her brother with me, so I can ride with you two. He is to drive my
truck to the hospital. Her mom is to meet us there.

Merchell: Well, climb in and sit where you can find a place.

Matthew: Where is Jimmy?

Merchell: After you left, the police took him to the E. R. to get the bullets out.

Matthew: Oh, so I didn't kill him! I thought I did, cause, he didn't move.

Merchell: No, but, you came close.

Matthew: I'm going to sue him for everything he's got, for what he did to you and Tammy.

Merchell: Not, if I do it first.

Matthew: When I sue him, we are going to give you part of the money. Deal?

Merchell: You've got a deal. You know, Tammy is so lucky, that she has a guy like you to
love her and take care of her. I wish I had a guy like you,but you are one of a
                 kind.

Matthew: Why, thank you, Merchell. I'm sure, Tammy won't mind you going out with us
sometimes, so you don't feel so lonely. I do care about you too. I care about the
both of you more than anyone in the world.

Merchell: See what I mean. You are the nicest guy in the world. Also, I'm sure Tammy
wouldn't mind, but I wouldn't feel right, cause, you might want to do something,
you don't want me to see. If you know what I mean.

Matthew: Why, I never! That's all right, I'll get you back later. Right now, all I'm worried
about is you two getting better and out of the hospital. Will they have to have
                surgery?

Billie: Yes, if they want to get better.

Merchell: Matt, I wouldn't worry about us, if I were you. We are in good hands. I know all
the doctors and nurses from my last visit. I was only there for a week. I bet
Billie, Barbara, and Angela don't even remember me. It was a good while back.

Billie: Why, sure, I remember, cause, your first name is Barbara and last, is Williamson.

Matthew: Is it all right, if I hold Tammy's hand?

Billie: Sure, you can even talk to her. She should respond to you.

Matthew: Tammy, are you ok? How do you feel?

Tammy: How do you think I feel? I'm in allot of pain.

Matthew: Well, I'm here and you're going to be all right.

Tammy: Where is Merchell? Is she ok?

Merchell: Tammy, I'm ok. I'm in the stretcher next to you.

Tammy: Well, I can't turn my head to see you. It hurts too bad.

Billie: We are almost there. Just a few more minutes.
